Vortex Technology Group (VTG) focuses on strategic markets where we can leverage our strengths in Fibre network design and battery energy storage systems.
We are a team of engineering and design professionals that cut their teeth in the Telecom space designing and implementing broadband networks encompassing long haul fibre, local access fibre and engineered wireless solutions for some of the largest North American and Global telecom carriers. VTG continues to offer that engineering and design service under its Fibre Networks portfolio.
Battery Energy storage was always a key design consideration in the specification of Telecom networks (especially in rural and remote areas where power is not consistent), where they are required to be available 24 hours x 365 days. Legacy battery technologies (such as lead acid ) used to power these networks, contain hazardous materials requiring special safety protocols and maintenance procedures. That combined with a typical life span of 5 years means that the life cost of energy (LCOE) could be substantially reduced with a newer, safer, longer life alternative battery energy storage technology.
That was the genesis of VTG's move into Battery Energy Storage promoting the use of our new disruptive technology (Vortex ESS supercapacitor energy storage). Supercapacitors have been around a long time and while they are used in many industries (requiring fast charge and discharge), their use in energy storage applications has been limited. As a result of developments in the BMS (Battery Management System) that controls the charge and discharge cycles, they can be used in any existing battery storage environment in a like-for-like swap.
Vortex ESS branded line of battery energy storage solutions provide some significant advantages versus legacy and newer Lithium Ion battery technologies which include:
